An Experience Like No Other
Sea Cliff Reosrt and Spa
Golfers have something really exciting to look forward to at Sea Cliff Resort – the new Peter Matkovich golf course is a first on the island of Zanzibar, and will provide a great golfing experience set in a fantastic Zanzibar island setting. The course meanders through tropical bush landscape with gigantic mango trees and palms, borders on a beautiful mangrove swamp, and even contains a stunning coastal low dunes landscape along the ocean on a couple of holes. Sea Cliff is a nine hole course, but offers a lot more. There are nine greens, but with different tee locations players can have a great 18 hole golf experience. The variety of holes on the different nines – varying in par, distance and angle, will provide golfers with a fun island golfing experience. The course also boasts a driving range and short game practice facility. After their round, golfers can enjoy the sunset from the Clubhouse Verandah, situated on a private beach, soaking in views of the ocean. The course has a par of 71, with holes varying in length – short to long par 3’s, a variety of par 4’s including a couple of drivable options (depending on wind direction), and then some fun par 5’s, which also vary between longer and shorter, depending on wind direction. As the course is set on the coast, wind will obviously have a great influence on the way the course plays every day, providing golfers with a different course in different wind conditions. The aim of the course was to provide a fun resort experience for players, as well as provide a player friendly course where new players can be introduced and exposed to the game – Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole is not a country currently associated with great golfers and a variety of great golf courses, but the course at Sea Cliff provides players of all levels with a fun, challenging test, set in an environment which would be described by many as “paradise”. What better way to spend part of your visit – be it leisure or business on this stunning layout, enjoying the best the island has to offer, again, and again…
Kilimanjaro Golf Course
Kilimanjaro Golf Club is the first 18-hole championship golf course in Tanzania, geared to host local and international golf events, tournaments and club nights.
The presentation of the course is highly unique, with each hole blending effortlessly in to the natural canvas of the terrain. Indigenous plants, native grasses and trees add to the individuality of the landscape, providing golfers with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The greens are large, with subtle changes in elevation as the location demands. All are built to USGA specification; the accepted standard for high quality surfaces throughout the world. Bunkers have been strategically placed to allow golfers a fair route to the fairways and greens. The clubhouse itself sits slightly raised above fairway and green levels. At the nearby driving range, players can enjoy the spectacular view of Mt Kilimanjaro whilst practicing their shots.
